Reflections on My Career Transition: The Path to a Profession in Psychotherapy

After more than a decade working in the public sector, I made a life-changing decision to pursue a new path – one that felt more aligned with the kind of impact I wanted to make.
Throughout my career in government, the moments that stood out the most were always the ones where I could see the real, human impact of my work. Whether I was helping to administer grants for community-led crime prevention programs, or collaborating with organizations serving survivors of sexual assault, I found myself increasingly drawn to the stories behind the statistics – the people behind the policies.
One particularly transformative experience came when I had the opportunity to listen directly to survivors of sexual violence as they shared their experiences navigating the justice system. These conversations stayed with me. They underscored how much healing can come from being heard, understood, and supported. It was then that l realized: this is where I wanted to focus my energy – helping people feel seen, supported, and empowered to heal.
This led me to return to university and pursue a Master’s in Counselling Psychology. Now, as a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying), I have the privilege of walking alongside clients as they navigate their own unique journeys toward mental wellness. My background has given me a deep appreciation for the systemic factors that impact people’s lives, and has inspired me to help others.
If you’re considering therapy – whether you’re navigating a difficult season, managing long-standing challenges, or simply seeking greater clarity and calm. I’m here to help. I offer a compassionate, nonjudgmental space where your story matters.
